Using the UNDP SDG Investor Maps intelligence tool, Pipeline Builder, an intermediary that streamlines the investment “origination” process to drive more capital to SDG-focused SMEs in emerging markets, successfully identified a base value of USD 39 million worth of SME investments in Ghana in the six months to September 2021 under its pilot scheme, with the potential for an additional USD 15.5 million.

As consumers and future business leaders, the world's 1.8 billion people aged between 15 and 29 years old will play a critical role in achieving the SDGs. UNDP Colombia has successfully used the Colombia SDG Investor Map to build a portfolio of impact venture companies that contribute to the transitioning of the SDGs and enabling private sector activities.

The Namibia SDG Investor Map identifies infrastructure, food and beverage, education, health care, transportation and services as critical sectors where development needs align with policy priorities, and formulates comprehensive investment opportunities for the private sector to contribute to the National Development Plan and the Harambee Prosperity Plan, such as agricultural cold storage opportunities, innovative commercial agri-developments and local manufacturing of essential medicines and drugs.

An analysis of the investment opportunities from Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica and Paraguay shows a focus on the priority sectors Food and Beverage, and Renewable Resources and Alternative Energy, which exhibit similar categories with overarching opportunities for investors in the region.

UNDP releases Version 1.0 of the UNDP SDG Impact Standards for Enterprises, the latest in a harmonized suite of impact standards targeted to different actors in the system, including for Private Equity Funds, Bond Issuers, and the OECD-UNDP Impact Standards for Financing Sustainable Development.
